Sainte-Marguerite: an island stop between coves and forest

On Sainte-Marguerite, the outing continues beyond the water’s edge. A few steps inland change the atmosphere. Make room for pauses as well as places to explore.

An island that invites you to slow down

Pines, eucalyptus and shaded paths reveal another side of Sainte-Marguerite. Fort Royal and the story of the Man in the Iron Mask add a historic dimension. Batéguier pond is another place to discover, particularly for birdwatching.

These suggestions are not a checklist. Choose what appeals to you: a monument, a forest path or time by the sea. Leave room to return to your kayak and paddle back comfortably.

Plan your landing with the base

Before leaving Cannes, ask which stops suit the day’s conditions. A shore that looks appealing in a photograph is not automatically a suitable landing. Wind, waves and your route all matter.

Follow the briefing instructions for bringing the kayak ashore, protecting belongings and organising your stop. Bring shoes for a walk and manage the equipment according to the base’s instructions.

Combine swimming and exploring ashore

A half-day suits a selected stop; a full day offers more flexibility for lunch and a walk. Check monument opening times and entry arrangements on official websites. Admission is separate from kayak rental.

Bring a bag to take your rubbish back to the mainland and stay on the paths. Choose suitable swimming spots within your agreed plan. A few well-chosen discoveries often make the best island day.
